"Have you see Aepril Schaile bellydance? If you have you know she is a master at bringing odd and unusual props to life on stage! Come learn the secrets behind Aepril's antics!"

The creative possibilities are endless! Traditional belly dance props are used with new energy and meaning, new ideas for props are born out of an image or idea...In this workshop, we will learn to use props not only as tools to showcase technique, and/or as an extension of costuming, but also as theatrical objects infused with signification and symbolic power.

Aepril Schaile works through the ancient, and ever-evolving, art of Bellydance to become Trickster, Warrior, Ghost, Storm, Grieving Mother, Killer, Seductress...Aepril's performances invoke the archetypal Feminine creatively, shamanistically, theatrically, and compellingly. With a background in theater and mythology, Aepril's creativity and style of movement incline naturally toward exploring mythic themes and infusing meaning and story into her dance; blending Tricksterish showmanship and sacred mediumship, she brings enchantment and excitement to her dance as well as psychological and spiritual intensity and signification. Aepril's performances have taken place at diverse venues ranging from large theaters to abandoned buildings; she has performed at events on both coasts of the US; a tour of Europe is in the works.  A musician as well, Aepril brings her sense of sonic drama and timing to her dance; when not moving to music as a dancer, she can be found composing and performing with her death-folk/ piano-doom band Aepril Schaile and the Judgement. Aepril teaches continuing classes, and offers workshops in New England and beyond. She directs the Exquisite Corpse project, a yearly theatrical/gothique/experimenta
l event.
